IDC Countdown – 23 days to go!

OK – this article will start with somewhat of a confession.  It isn’t actually 23 days until my IDC starts.  In 23 days I will depart these shores for the beaches and seas of Koh Samui in Thailand.  I then have 10 days there before my pre-IDC prep course starts and then the IDC proper.  But for all intents and purposes, it all kicks off for me in 23 days.  Right – now I’ve got that off my chest I feel a little less guilty!  Onto business… Continue reading this entry »

Okinawa - A Hidden Diving Gem

If I’m at a computer, I can usually be found checking out the range of diving websites that are available around the world.  I love reading about the tropical locations that look like paradise, but that I have neither the time nor the money to afford.  Yet no matter how hard I look, one diving destination always seems to be absent in the websites and magazines: Okinawa, Japan.  But why is this beautiful archipelagos so unvisited by foreign divers? My Taiwan trip

Well, the past weekend had glorious weather for diving, but I wasn’t able to get into the water.  Instead, I hopped on a plane on Thursday nught and one hour later I was in Taiwan for the weekend.  It was my first time to visit the country, and it is a very interesting country.  I probably would only go back if I was going with a native speaker (Cecky, please take note!) - knowledge of the language is very important if you are to fully appreciate your time there as a solo traveller.  I had very similar feelings about my trip to Beijing last year.
