Big in Japan

Dives 111-112 (21-22/04/06)

A dash from school into Naha, and then up to Sunabe, gave me the first dive of a relatively undiveable weekend, weather-wise.  But at least I got into the water, which is the main thing.  It’s 3 months minus 2 days until I go to Thailand for my IDC too.  Can’t believe how quickly that’s come around.  So here are the logs from the weekend.

Dive Number: 111
Date: 21/04/06
Location: Sunabe (ARK Dive)
Time in: 18:02
Time out: 18:36
Bottom time: 34 mins
Max depth: 17m
Average depth: 11m
Weight: 12 lbs
Exposure protection: 5mm wetsuit, gloves, booties
Type of diving: Saltwater, shore
Temperature: Air - 22C, water - 23.4C
Visibility: 9-10m
Dive buddies: Lindsey
Comments: Just got into the water before the cut-off point where the dive would have become a night dive.  There was a fair bit of surge in the water, but it felt nice to get wet again.A few bigger fish were out too.  The dive headed right (north), along the shelf, before circling round and returning at about 10m.
 Total dive time (hrs:mins): 75:27

Time out: 08:34
Bottom time: 44 mins
Max depth: 20.5m
Average depth: 10.7m
Weight: 12 lbs
Exposure protection: 5mm wetsuit, gloves, booties
Type of diving: Saltwater, shore
Temperature: Air - 20C, water - 23.1C
Visibility: 10m
Dive buddies: Heather
Comments: Only 1 dive today due to conditions worsening through the morning.  6 divers and I led the group as the most experienced diver at this site.  It was a pretty good dive and Junkyard always has beautiful scenery.  It certainly proves wrong those who say the coral in Okinawa is dead.  It was a fun dive & we surfaced very close to our descent spot - quite a feat at Junkyard!
Total dive time (hrs:mins): 76:11
