Dives 113-114 (24/04/06)
Calm seas led to an offer of a couple of evening dives. Every day I’m just itching to get into the water and so ould hardly refuse. And I sure am glad I did… Continue reading this entry »
Dives 111-112 (21-22/04/06)
A dash from school into Naha, and then up to Sunabe, gave me the first dive of a relatively undiveable weekend, weather-wise. But at least I got into the water, which is the main thing. It’s 3 months minus 2 days until I go to Thailand for my IDC too. Can’t believe how quickly that’s come around. So here are the logs from the weekend. Continue reading this entry »
Tekwings, trauma and tragic Rugby League!
Well, a lack of dive buddies last weekend meant that no diving was on the cards for me. I’m not a huge advocate of solo diving and especially when I don’t have a pony bottle or any sort of backup if everything goes pear-shaped. So this entry will be relatively short, but hopefully sweet… Continue reading this entry »
The Man in The Glass
As I was reading the Wayne Bennett autobiography, I came across a piece by Dale Winbrow, called “The Man in the Glass”. Thought I would share it with you:
When you get what you want in this struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Then go to your mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn’t your father, your mother, or wife,
Whose judgment of you - you must pass,
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life,
Is the guy staring back in the glass.
He is the man you must please - never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clean up to the end.
And you have passed your most difficult and dangerous test,
When the man in the glass is your friend,
You can be like another and chisel a plum,
And think you’re a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum,
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.
You can fool the whole world, down the pathway of years,
And get pats on your back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears,
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.
Sun, scuba and sunburn
Well, on Saturday it seemed like summer had arrived. Man, that was a good day. Not a cloud in the sky, not a breath of wind and nice & warm. So I decided to take a break from the usual Sunabe/Kadena diving and head a little further north. Continue reading this entry »
