Big in Japan

I’m a Centurion!

Before I start, wasn’t Centurions an ITV childrens TV series in the 80s?  I vaguely remember having one of the figures which had lots of holes, into which you could attach weapons, or indeed other Centurions.  And I just had to go and check, and it turns out I’m right!  See, my memory does work well on odd occasions.  Right - enough banter - onto business.

Centurions! Behold a Centurion!

The weekend didn’t start well - a 5am start and another Wigan loss, this time to Warrington.  I don’t get up at 5am in the morning to listen to our attempt at a rugby league team lose!  We’ve got to start picking up points soon, and even a tad of creativity would be a welcome surprise…

Another busy weekend of diving - 6 dives in fact, with 4 of them coming on Saturday.  The first dive of the day was number 100, and it went well.  I led a couple of students who were doing a nitrox dive as part of their Advanced Open Water class at Sunabe (Ark Dive).  I didn’t get lost or kill anyone, which I always class as a bonus!  Visibility was pretty good too, which is more than can be said of the 2 dives I did in the afternoon.  The second of those dives was almost a limited visibility dive; at the most it was 4m (15ft).

Sunday’s diving was pretty good up at Maeda, contrary to what the weather had forecast.  The sun was out and there wasn’t a breath of wind.  I did 2 dives, both of them deep (33m and 31m), with one of them being a one-way dive.  We pretty much went to our no-deco limits.  I need to remember that next time I do that I should increase the conservatism on my dive computer.  Even with a very slow ascent I had a bit of headache an hour or so later.

Was a little worried to hear that there had been an incident at Maeda later on during the day.  The weather had turned bad and a couple of divers in a dive group went missing. They were recovered late on in the evening, and were lucky nobody was seriously hurt.  Maeda’s a great spot for diving, but if the conditions turn rough then it can be tough to get out.

So, 105 dives now and counting.  No diving next weekend as Ive got prior plans, but I might be able to get a night dive in this week.  Ill leave you with another couple of pics from my gallery:
